What a great time we had again in Lafyette. It was Natu's 3rd time at the festival and each time it's super special. The food, the people and the late night jams afyter the show are always terrific. We ran into old friends from across the planet and made new ones. Thanks again for having us back. We had a blast.
Here's some feeback from our friends at Mondolocal of Natu's latest 2 shows at Festival International de Louisiane.
"Like Cajun and Creole music, the music of Guinea is deeply rooted in tradition. Natu Camara’s set fulfills the connection stated in Festival’s mission statement and recognized in the enthusiastic response to the music of Natu Camara.
Natu’s return to Lafayette comes as she is about to release her 2nd solo album “Lumiere”. During her two sets, she sang in 5 different languages, connecting the moment to the world events taking place around us. Instead of just performing and projecting her music, Natu builds a strong connection with her surroundings and audience as she did before singing “Momma Hidda” a song about child marraiges at the Scene International during her Friday set.
Saturday she did a couple songs from her new album. “Since I am a French speaker, I just decided to shorten it (the album title) to “Lumiere.” She says “The tour will be about keeping your lights on and the whole concept of this. This is what the whole album is about.” We discussed further with Natu and learned that lumiere is the theme running through the whole album, connecting each song spiritually with one another. “The album is about light. It is about what happened after the pandemic, upon artists, and it's about women. It's about everything in the present now that needs light.”
